David Johnston commenced an accountancy cadetship in 1979 with a medium sized firm of Chartered Accountants in Brisbane. He completed a Bachelor of Business (Accountancy) at the Queensland University of Technology specialising in the areas of taxation and accounting.
David worked for large and small accounting firms over the last thirty-five years gaining broad exposure to and knowledge about the accounting and tax needs of a wide range of individual and business clients. In particular, a major group of clients that David serviced were medical, dental and allied health professionals.
In May 2011, after diversifying his experience by working in commercial accountancy roles for a number of years David chose to return to public accounting and establish his own accounting services business in Buderim, Queensland – David Johnston Accountancy Services.
As a qualified trainer, David also adds value to his clients businesses by providing training in accounting software and bookkeeping. David holds a Certificate IV in Training & Assessment.

David Johnston is a Registered Tax Agent and as such is obligated and regulated to comply with strict continuing professional education requirements which ensures his clients receive tax and accounting advice they can trust.
A keen tennis player, David also enjoys the challenge of public speaking, is a member of the Sunshine Coast Toastmaster’s Club and he is currently serving as an Executive on the Club Board. David also holds a Diploma of Applied Science (Community & Human Service) and he worked in the human services field for four years as a Youth Worker. David has an active interest in volunteering and giving back to the community and is a member of the Rotary Club of Buderim, serving on its Board over the last two years in the role of Youth Director and currently as Treasurer.
